Hey Product Hunt!
After almost a year in the works, we couldn’t be more excited to finally share the completely new version of Flow — our project and task management app for teams.
Alongside a completely redesigned interface, the new Flow adds tons of great new features, including:
• More flexible tools to manage your team’s work, including the new projects dashboard, custom project colors, redesigned project and task views, and more.
• More powerful project planning tools, including horizontal project timelines and project schedules — ideal for Gantt workflows.
• New resource management features to help you view and balance your entire team (or company’s) workload for the week, month, and beyond.
• New features to better manage larger teams give you clearer visibility into everything happening at every level of your organization.
We have a great deal for Product Hunt, too: Apply the code PRODUCTHUNT at checkout to save 50% off any new annual plan, or 30% off any new monthly plan, for your first year.
Questions or feedback? We’d love to hear it!
@markhenderson77 We need a free plan 🦋
@markhenderson77 Congrats on the launch! Any lifetime account for early adopters of the new service? It looks like a great service that I could let my network know about. Msg me!
@markhenderson77 All the congrats, Mark, I know you & the team have been slaving over this for a while! Awesome to see Flow in the spotlight again!
@king_jaffy thanks Jason, that means a lot. This has been a long time coming, and the team sweat every detail on this one.
@markhenderson77 I am trying to subscribe and I put the coupon code but the discount says 38% not 50%
Love the PH kitty graphics, @markhenderson77. 😸
Thanks @rrhoover! We've been advocates for Cats in Apps since 2016 : https://dribbble.com/shots/2911207-Zero-State-Inviting-your-team
Been using the beta for a little while, congrats on getting it all live! Who did the launch video? It's awesome :P
That track especially - can't seem to find it?
@alexheeton thanks Alex! We did it in-house. The awesome track is Zoxio by Fear of Tigers, one of my favourite artists: https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/pretty-boys-dragon-show-ep/id1164104496
@aidanhornsby Awesome, thanks :)
We have been using Flow for almost 4-5 years now and it truly helped our team of 50+ people to get sync on our daily missions :) we appreciate their great support and continous update and improvment of the Flow App.
@a_sky so thrilled to hear Flow has helped you and your team for this long! We're so glad to have you on board and hope you enjoy using the new Flow as much as we have been. Please let us know if you have any feedback!
Really cool how you guys put the whole team as the "Makers", haven't seen a lot of that. And product looks great - like a sexier Airtable hahah
Great job Mark & the Flow team!
This looks great!
Is it just me, or does it really look like Roadmap after this update?
@benedikrok Nope, not just you. That's the first thing I thought about after seeing the gallery.
@benedikrok Hop in and check it out, we're quite different products. Flow has had timelines for quite some time.
Great job!! Would love more integration to other apps for seamless experience 😊
@ayush_chandra which apps are at the top of your wishlist? More integrations are on the horizon, but in the meantime you can check out our Public API https://developer.getflow.com Let us know if you have any questions!
Absolutely love the video, definitely the second-best Flow product video. Anyone else remember this vintage gem?
@hkimia Dude!! so cool to resurface it :)
Awesome team task management from an awesome team! Congrats on the launch!
This looks like "Let's copy Roadmap https://onroadmap.com as much as we can add more gasoline on it". Why are you guys not simply teaming up and build one amazing product everyone would benefit from?
David A. Lindahl
Would love to see a free tier / freemium model for small time makers!
@austriker27 Agreed. Or, at least not requiring a minimum number of users. Would gladly pay, just not pay for additional users that won't use it. @markhenderson77
Congrats on the Launch! Seems to be an awesome tool. Excited to try the tool in our company.
@pradeepa_somasundaram Hell yeah, let us know how it goes.
@markhenderson77 Congrats on the launch Mark looks much improved and most importantly productive.
Just trialling the platform as we speak, do you plan on improving the mobile app, 2.7-star rating slightly worrying in such a mobile world.
To me its somewhere between Roadmap / Trello / Asana, of which have freemium plans available, what would you say differentiates your platform?
@johndesk27 Thanks John! We've actually got a brand new mobile app coming your way in the next couple months. If you'd like to join our beta program please email me at mark.henderson at getflow dot com.
With freemium, often that model requires you to gate your most valued features and we decided against that. One of the goals for New Flow was to give our current customers more value, and make bigger features for bigger teams optional, but still affordable for smaller teams.
As to how we differentiate, our customers tell us over and over again that Flow is super easy to use, but I think the tools you named also do a really great job of that. The one thing that Flow does differentiate on is our flexibility. Flows at its best when there’s multiple teams collaborating together. Our goal is that different teams can work different ways in the same tool.
Great looking app. Will continue playing with it for personal projects. What would push me over the edge is more dedicated sprint support. This is the sad reason I had to leave Asana and move the team to Jira. The flexibility is great, but at the end of the day there are many open ended project-board services and not enough development cycle services. Would love to see Flow find it’s niche there.
@0xc00010ff dogg, you and me both.
@0xc00010ff But... you can easily create your own SDLC template (or borrow one). How is this hindering your usage of apps like Flow and/or Jira? Help me out here...
@markhenderson77 In this new UI design you no longer allow me (paid account) to see other user's tasks? I was able to see other user's tasks without any problem for over a year until right now.
@markhenderson77 just went back to the older UI — i am able to see other user's tasks. Is this some sort of a sneaky 'pay me for something that was not paid' move in the new UI?
@markhenderson77 @vahanavagyan I totally get where you're coming from. In the old UI we'd allow people to click on someone's profile through the people page and see their tasks one Team at a time. It was a bit of a buried feature that was pretty limited in functionality, and not a ton of people were using it as a result.
With Task Profiles we added:
- The ability to see a coworkers tasks across all the teams they're a part of, and filter out Teams all in the same view.
- The ability to see a weekly task calendar for that individual across all their teams (also filterable)
- See their private tasks that you're subscribed to.
- Favorite coworker's task profiles for quick access alongside your own.
This is now front and center proper feature that enables team management, rather than a buried feature with a quarter of the functionality.
For whatever it's worth, you can use the PRODUCTHUNT discount code to offset a move to Pro and then some. <3
@markhenderson77 @jesseherlitz Even tho we were (still are?) paying account, i now see a 'Start a New Trial' button in my account and i get 'Start a New Organization' — unsure if i should move on with this button since my intention is to continue using current account. Pls advise.
p.s. thans for the 'PRODUCTHUNT' — i'll happily apply it to our plan.
@markhenderson77 @vahanavagyan This is if you want to create a new organization, separate from the one you've got going. It's been there in old Flow too for quite some time.
@markhenderson77 @jesseherlitz okay this is now getting confusing — before i could easily see my current paying plan and right now i see no such option which makes me uncertain, are we still on a paying plan or dropped from being paying plan to get on the new pricing structure (i've noticed you guys also modified plans). pls advise.
@markhenderson77 @jesseherlitz found the 'Grandfathered Plan' we're on. Do we fully benefit from the flowapp with this plan?
@markhenderson77 @vahanavagyan We grandfathered your plan to keep your old pricing the same when prices changed. We didn't cancel your plan. You're on our standard plan right now, you can select Pro at manage.getflow.com. You can apply the coupon code during checkout. Any changes you make will be pro-rated.
@markhenderson77 @jesseherlitz what % does the 'PRODUCTHUNT' bring?
@markhenderson77 @jesseherlitz never mind, found above (50% and 30% off)
@markhenderson77 @jesseherlitz I was attempting to migrate from grandfathered plan to the new pro one and so removed my earlier 27% coupon to replace it with the 30% new 'PRODUCTHUNT' one and now stuck with 'Sorry, that coupon is invalid' message. Pls advise.
@markhenderson77 @jesseherlitz never mind — exited and looks like the old code is still there. Just migrated to the new pro plan with the 27% code.
Hey @markhenderson77, does Flow support agencies that want to invite their clients to specific projects (like Basecamp)?
@stinhambo hey Steven, we don’t currently have dedicated / limited guest account right now, but we’re working on that — watch this space!
@aidanhornsby That's great to know! I was going to experiment with that but I thought I'd ask too. It's important to know how Flow would look from a guest's perspective too. I prefer if a guest has a simplified version of the UI where they can simply see tasks assigned to them broken down by project. I don't think they need much more than that!
@aidanhornsby Secondly (if I may!) I'd love to see Task and Project Templates (like Teamwork). It would make managing client work so much easier!
@stinhambo it's totally possible today to invite 'limited' users to your org, who can only view specific teams and projects. We don't currently support showing a different UI to user types, though.
Freemium or bust!
Having never heard of Flow before and having the opportunity to play with it over the past 14 days, I am blown away. The UI and workflow is intuitive, and I'm able to get a handle on all of the different projects I am working on. I was a little worried about the mobile app based on the ratings in Google Play Store, but have been pleasantly surprised with the experience.
So I'm ready to buy, even considering the Flow Pro level, but encountered some blockers. First, the pricing is off. The coupon codes they give you do not seem to be accurate, at least the '50% off Annual'. When I plug in Annual for the Pro Plan, it tells me I owe $287.64 for 3 users. More on that later. Cool. I apply my coupon code expecting 50% off, but no, it only takes off 38%. It was explained that Annual pricing already has 20% off, this brings it to 50% off, but that is very misleading.
Now I am a team of one. I love the efficiency I can gain by using Flow, but all that is squashed by requiring me to buy at least 3 users. Others here have called for a freemium model. Sure that could work, but I'm more than willing to buy a license for myself. I don't want to buy a handful that will go unused.
Since I am required to buy at least 3, and some have asked about freemium, I wonder if @minnixio , @austriker27 or @jeffeisley would want to be part of my 'team' and split the cost.
David A. Lindahl
@minnixio @jeffeisley @deec_nj Sadly I don't have the discretionary funds to do this right now. Otherwise Id be interested! I might be able to do it in a few months.
@deec_nj I appreciate it but I was just playfully (and idealistically) troll'n, I'm pretty content with Ora at the moment :)
