Hello Product Hunters and Huntresses!
Jiri here, the CEO and creator of the Supernova Studio. We are incredibly excited to be launching our first official version of Supernova Studio today after 2 years of secret development and nearly a year in Public Beta. We’d like to thank the over 10,000 people who participated and helped us to take the product to where it is today.
Supernova aims to bridge the gap between developers and designers by automating the conversion of the Sketch mobile designs to native mobile UI. Here are some of the most prominent features:
• 1:1 conversion of design from Sketch to native components
• Automatic creation of responsive layouts
• Automatic resource detection and export (no need for slices)
• Automatic localization to 30 languages
• Creation of navigation chains and user flows
• The full-fledged multi-platform animation engine
• Export of code, assets, project, fonts, UI and everything you need for iOS, Android and React Native
• Supernova Cloud the one-of-a-kind collaboration platform
• Bonus for all your late night sessions: Light/Dark UI mode
.. and many more. We are on the mission to make the everyday work of developers and designers fun and interesting again, by removing the boring and tedious work of the interface creation. Supernova strives to empower designers and developers so they and their teams can focus on innovation.
In addition to Supernova Studio, we are thrilled to announce Supernova Cloud. Cloud is a next-generation collaboration platform which is unique in its ability to present working mobile apps on the web - instead of static presentation, Cloud presents mobile apps to your team and clients they are meant to be - fully responsive, with an option to switch to between languages with native components, fully interactive components. Best of all - Cloud is free for everyone.

Update 1: We are absolutely overwhelmed by the positive feedback that people are throwing at Supernova - thank you so much <3. To answer the most asked question throughout all the channels so you don't have to, this is what you can expect within next few months:
- Automatic API / Model generation from the backend REST API
- States / Logic
- Support for more design formats - we'll share which ones soon
- Support for websites - html and react exporters
Update 2: Some people asked us about the code Supernova generates. We went ahead and this is the final, exported code for our tutorial application, "Spacebook" - for iOS, Android and React Native. There are -no- modifications done to the code. https://github.com/Supernova-Studio/spacebook-exported-code
@appsupernova @jirka_trecak is this the first time Supernova Studio hits PH? anyway a big Thank You to you Jiri and your amazing team, will stay tuned to any updates from you! I'm in the Slack group as well.
@appsupernova @hesperiashimo Hey @hesperisashimo! We are launching the release version - 1.0, for the first time today, as it was released today!
9 months ago, we've launched a beta on PH and it was great to hear what community has to say - now we have the product that actually works, is polished and we cannot be happier to share it today - it is completely new experience for everyone as we reworked pretty much every part of the Studio based on the feedback.
Alongside that, we are launching Supernova Cloud, our brand new product - which you can read about here - https://medium.com/@appsupernova/introducing-supernova-cloud-6b73d3e09650 . Hope this helps, thank you for staying with us!

@appsupernova @jirka_trecak quick question - does this work on Windows also?
@appsupernova @jirka_trecak what's the price? Why it's not publicly available?
@appsupernova @jirka_trecak +1 for html and react code !!! support for websites would be great
Congrats Supernova Team! Excited to see this become a reality.
@daviddrobik1 Thank you for the kind words! We really hope it will help designers and developers out there.
While companies such as InVision are focusing on building yet another design tool, you guys have built something truly innovative and game-changing. I wish you success. This tool was much needed! 👏
@robertsozolins Thank you, we are absolutely overwhelmed by the positivity that people show towards this product. We've developed it because we are designers and developers as well - and currently, there was no product that would make our cooperation smooth and enjoyable - I think all people experienced this problem.
We hope you'll put it to good use, and we are just starting!
Looks great. I have been using Marvel for rough layouts and flows when trying to show teams ideas for various projects. Majority already use Sketch when finalizing design aspects this could save a lot of time for them on the development side!
@natelegler This is exactly our goal Nate. The issue with the current prototyping tools is that you throw away your work - something that for us, personally, was a big issue. When using Supernova, it is possible to save up to 50% (ideal case, but achievable) on the app you are building - meaning you can do twice as many. With the current shortage of designers and developers, this can help all the founders and teams out there :)
If this actually fulfills the things it promises, I've been thinking that something like this needed to exist for years. You guys actually did it. Wow.
@ctothejones Thanks! - I can assure you it does work - that is why we've created very extensive tutorial series - creating of "Spacebook" so people understand and believe that there is finally a tool that can deliver on this specific promise. It is 2018 and the development is the only area I know of that is missing automation - quite a strange thing, if you ask me, but as a maker of Supernova, I understand just how hard is to do it.
If you need any help getting to know the product, feel free to reach us! And thank you for your kind words - means a world to us, as we spent years thinking the same.
Amazing 😱. First time I saw a concept like this was Pix2Code (https://github.com/tonybeltramelli/pix2code), which paper was published 5/22/17. This is a full fledged system. Will be trying it out!
@thomaswang Haha I waited to see someone post this and sure here it is! But to actually tell the truth - Supernova works very differently. The Pix2Code system if ever used would only extend Supernova to auto-recognize components without your manual assignment of types, but since it is few clicks, it would probably not help much.

You hint at the web version being teased "really soon". Will that also export code for desktop?
@searchresults HTML + React web :) Desktop is usually highly specific in what it does - would not be feasible to do something like this, probably.
Good luck to you :)
@lisadziuba Thank you :) We could not be happier at this moment
Really great idea Jirka! Keep up the awesome work.
@alexlieb Thanks, we appreciate that people like the idea!
Just going to mention it since no one else has yet... please... please.. solve end to end app development, i.e. the data.
I'm sure there's plenty of ways to attack this problem, but even if it was just reading end points of an API and being able to read/send... that would be amazing.
@wuss It is coming in next few months (REST APIs + model creation at the beginning). We already have the basic groundwork for that done. Data layer will be available on the Cloud as well, so you'll be able to collaborate / prototype with your team on the real data.
@jirka_trecak you're awesome!!!! lots of attempts in the past to try and do this, and they never really end up delivering on the promise. My hope is that Supernova makes their solution thoughtful, even if it means limited functionality in the beginning.
Maybe you could even offload some of the work to a pre-existing service? For instance, allowing me to setup/manage logic and data via Zapier or IFTTT, then just allow Supernova to access those triggers and output. Anyways, keep doing what you're doing :)!
@wuss Don't worry. We spent years thinking about this product, and how to make it work properly. When we introduce something, it will work the best way possible :)
Check it out Supernova Studio
Looks beautiful. Can only hope there isn't too much name confusion with Invision's Studio
@mulholio It is a very distinct product, I think it will be fine. Plus InVision studio is yet to release :) The truth is that we've started development much sooner than InVision studio did exist even, so the name was there for years now.
On first glance this looks incredible! Going to have a play with it in a few days. Great work guys!
@rossnics Thank you, let us know what you think and we will be also happy for any idea for the improvements!
Macromedia Flash 3 never looked so good!
@tomkelshaw Hahaha <3 Lets hope it will not have the same fate..
RIP my job. Congrats everyone! ✨
@connorgutman On the contrary - time to finally do interesting things, not the stuff that repeats all over. I think that is the most important thing after all when you are doing just about anything in the world :)
This is the real tool which solves the real problem I am Expecting this for a long time. I will provide my support to this great team
@johnyvino27 Thank you! Feel free to join our community so we can stay in touch <3
The product looks very polished and you and your team should be proud.
Would I be able to take the app built in supernova to the App Store? I couldn't find that answer on the site
@perazamichael Thanks, it took us an absurd amount of time, but we are super happy with how it turned out. As for the question - no, you will not. Not yet anyway. Supernova is a tool that helps you with the UI conversion - if your application is strictly UI (which almost never happens), then, in theory, you could. But in a real world, you'll still need to code the "backend" of the application. So you export to XCode, you create the backend and then publish to store.
Navid Mirzaie Milani
congratulations on the launch, i have seen the medium posts and the videos it looks very promising.
@navidmirzaie Thanks Navid!
This truly looks amazing and I can't wait to use it. A couple question, who ultimately owns the app? Do I own and can have access to everything? Can I download all full files ready to upload to my computer and edit from there? What language is the app built in?
@themelamini Hello Melanie! You absolutely own everything. We don't store anything, nor we use some proprietary third technology - everything that you get is pure, generated native code.
We have prepared the tutorial application for Supernova -> https://medium.com/@appsupernova/introducing-spacebook-dfdfbc9ea943 and you can find the exported code from it here - https://github.com/Supernova-Studio/spacebook-exported-code which will give you an overview about what to expect for all platforms - and we are only improving upon it.
Hope it helps, lmk if you have any other questions!
