Hello @jitesh_dugar ! I'm the founder of Cowboy. How can I help here?
Jitesh Dugar
@adrien_roose Firstly, sincere appreciation for launching this super useful product.. Even I work in a commute space in the car & bike sharing market in India. Do you ship across the world? How does anyone outside Brussels get to have a test ride? I was particularly excited to see the app, but could not spot it on the app stores. Can you share a link?

@jitesh_dugar Thanks for your feedback and questions We've done a soft launch last Thursday in Belgium, to fine-tune our Go To Market, and did not expect to be featured that quickly on Product Hunt to be honest :-) We only ship in Belgium for now as we want to perfect our test ride experience before scaling to other countries. Hopefully we'll be able to expand by the end of the year. You can check out the app here for now https://cowboy.bike/pages/app Let me know if you have any question !
Jitesh Dugar
@adrien_roose Thanks for taking time to answer these. Appreciate it. The "Get on Google Play" and "Get on App Store" on your app page do not seem to be hyperlinked to the app stores. Am I missing something?
Adrien Roose
Maker
@jitesh_dugar not missing anything, we will upload the apps on the stores in a couple of weeks, just before shipping the first bikes :-)

I couldn't track them down, will try again today. Yeah, it looks awesome. I think it's got the potential to do for electric bikes what the iPod did for Mp3 players.

Hello @solomon_teach ! Thanks for the Hunt ! I'm the founder of Cowboy. How can I help here?

Spending almost 1K5 for a bike seems like a deal breaker, but again, if your target are wealthy folks with 5k monthly income, then this is gonna be really huge. I'm a sucker for well designed products and this seems to be of of em
Melvyn Hills
@uxdzen most good *electric* bikes are within the 2K-2K5 price range.
Hassan Abdulhamid
@melvynhills So they are not made for the masses then, cause there's no way someone like me making 2kp/m would want to get that kind of bike which I would love to get btw.. but you get the drift. There are millions of people like me in that same situation.
Hassan Abdulhamid
@melvynhills FYI, I'm not saying cowboy isn't good or anything like that, I'm just pointing out what most people already have in mind. Its still one of the most well designed bikes out there !
Melvyn Hills
@uxdzen 100% agree on that. Electric bikes are still relatively new, their price will go down in the coming years, and so will become more accessible to the masses. I don't think it's relevant to debate whether it's affordable for everyone. Electric bikes sells are soaring right now, at least in Europe. This is a premium product at a very good quality/price ratio. Just look at the "Related products" section on the right column of this page to see other bikes much pricier (for an inferior product IMHO). This is a very competitive product at this price range.

Hello @uxdzen ! Thank you so much for your feedback! Our objective is indeed to make electric bike attractive and popular to a larger audience. Unfortunately, with this first model, it couldn't be cheaper without compromising quality. I sincerely hope that our next model will be cheaper.
Asher Harris
I'm curious, slick design, great features, I probably won't buy one (I have a human powered road bike) but I think there are a lot of people who will. Hope the roll out goes well 🙌🏾

Your bike rocks ... slick design, great features !!!

thank you @gaylord_roukine !
Anthony Da Mota
Woah! I love the design and the minimalist but very useful features. Some are reporting that 50km of battery is small, but it's not imo 🤔 Looking forward to buy it but… it's a little pricey for me :(

Thank you @akdm_ !

@adrien_roose How does this compare to VanMoof's bikes? Great to see new folks in the space and hopefully bringing the price down!
Laurent VB
@adrien_roose @joostschuur Not the maker, but I had the opportunity to try both. I crashed with the Van Moof Electrified S for my first e-bike ride. It was heavy and not very instinctive to ride for a daily road bike rider. The Cowboy is lighter and feels more natural to ride. I might be wrong but I think it's less powerful. It's also 40% cheaper.
Adrien Roose
Maker
Hi @joostschuur ! Our bike is nearly twice cheaper, 2kg lighter, the motor assistance is more intuitive, the transmission works with a carbon belt, the disc brakes are hydraulic and the battery is removable. The App features also go much further.
Daniel Kegel
@joostschuur @adrien_roose one of the biggest knocks on the Van Moof Electrified S is that the non-electric parts like chain drive, brakes etc. are pretty low-end considering the price of the bike. There is certainly room to improve there. The VM does have a 65% larger battery (418wh vs 252wh for the Cowboy) and I'm not sure what you mean by 'more intuitive motor assistance'.
Adrien Roose
Maker
@joostschuur @danielkegel yes they do have a larger battery (but non removable which implies having to charge the bike itself and not the battery). By a more intuitive motor assistance I mean that the Cowboy bike is equipped with both a speed and a torque sensor and thus we automatically use these signals to determine the amount of assistance given by the motor, instead of asking the user to choose different mode of assistance manually.
Daniel Kegel
@adrien_roose correct, although I don't really see the benefit of a removable battery. Most people won't buy a second battery and if they do, they won't take it with them. The only use case would be changing the empty battery at home for a full one. What is the power/max speed of the motor?
Adrien Roose
Maker
@danielkegel 1) Re-charge your battery easily in your apartment when you leave your bike downstairs (will be the case in most EU cities), 2) Easily replace your old Battery 3) Use an additional Battery. To respect EU laws, the motor has a nominal power of 250W and EU assistance mode stops the assistance at 25km/h

Although I see no room for a e-bike in my life, the design is outstanding - it's so slim!

Is that possible to connect the bike sensors with Strava or Runtastic using the ANT+ protocol? Is there any API or SDK for developers that want to integrate stuff with the bike?

@ayush_chandra thanks !
Jean-François Dh
I am a beta early adopter of the product. I rode 1000km in two months and a half. The feeling of the bike and the engine still amaze me :)! Very pleased with the overall performance of the bike ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Laurent Bouty
@jean_francois_dh hi jean Francois would you advice it a city bike (brussels intra muros) ? Work with business casual clothes ? What about mud gard?
Laurent Bouty
Test it last week. Very good. Question @adrien_roose why battery is only 252wh?
Adrien Roose
Maker
@laurent_bouty it provides up to 50km which is more than enough for a normal commuting use; and in line with our vision to design a light, elegant electric bike.
Laurent Bouty
@adrien_roose tx make sense for city. There is no specifications on your web site regarding Ampere for the battery? When the battery is remove, gps and 2G are still working? (Use case bike stolen while battery removed)? And finally could you advice Mud Guard as you don’t have currently one branded cowboy? Tx
Adrien Roose
Maker
@laurent_bouty 252 Wh / 36 V = 7 Ah. When the main battery is removed, the GPS and 2G still work thanks to a secondary battery. The bike is compatible with most mudguards out there, we're also working on Cowboy mudguards.
Cosmo Jones
Looks amazing! I would be happy to beta test this in NYC where you can really hard test and fine tune the anti-theft components... : )
