Unsurprising that this launched pre-GDPR.
This won't solve all of our big data problems: at the end of the day, it's the consumer's job to intelligently protect their data before it's given to advertising companies like FB, not after.
@nickabouzeid I feel GDPR believe that no, it's not the consumers job to do this, in the same way that it's not the consumers job to research the food they eat to make sure it's safe (it's the job of the relevant Food Safety Authority, bar any allergies etc).
I think it's a soft delete.
Why do they even have 'off facebook' data. Who allowed them that? Oh yeah, we probbably did...
But what if I want to sell my data to a hostile foreign power?
@david_klein1 Пожалуйста свяжись со мной. Я дам вам хорошую цену за ваши данные!
For myself: Awesome.
As a marketer: Welp, there goes my business analytics
Now that Zuckerberg is enlightened I am pretty sure that Facebook with crack the scalability issues of the blockchain. All these "delete your data" tools are just buying them more time.
Horseshit. All of this BS is why I use a fake profile on FB
What about deleting our shadow profiles that we don’t have access to, but they have created, “just in case” we one day sign up to Facebook (for a user who is not currently on Facebook)?
Erm, why is this 'product' listed on 'Product Hunt' when it's neither available, working, or launched?
This should be hunted when it is available. Not sure why it is on here now. Can we now hunt 'products' based on a few paragraphs? Better moderation!
Product not available, just a promise that will be built "soon".
I agree with others, this isn't a product but just an announcement that they will create a tool.
Let's be serious, that's their business model... They won't kill it
hmm wondering whether it will really work or take more of my data!
