Howdy Product Hunters! Bumped to be on Product Hunt! We built Awario for entrepreneurs and marketers to let you keep track of social media conversations and press mentions - both of your own brand, competitors, or - quite literally - anything else you'd like to track. Awario looks for mentions across Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Reddit, News and Blogs, and the web at large. Check Awario out, particularly the Boolean search option (available in the free trial and all plans) - a super flexible way to set up your mention alerts so that you can get precisely the results you want. Feel free to ask me anything below, share your thoughts on Awario, and please help us spread the love!

I’ve been using Awario for a few months now. I’m a recruiter and I use it to track job openings which I can pick off and approach with candites who already fit the bill. Quite an unfair advantage. I also use it for mundane personal and consumer stuff like tracking sentiment on purchases I’m considering. This is a strong and stable platform already and it’s being developed aggressively. It’s a winner in my opinion and I strongly recommend it to anyone in the market for a listener at an insanely competitive price point.

@david_hall wow, thanks for that feedback David!

Been using it for a while thanks to @sk_dub - I like it so far. Helped us identify how a competitor of ours implemented a workaround for an important feature for us 😅 after that - we did that too! 😁

@vladcalus Smart move :D Thanks for sharing your use case!

Honestly I’m a bit sorry for Awario being hunted because I wanted it just for me:) Amazing tool, using it for a few mounts now.

@axincornel 😀 thanks!

I’ve been using Awario for a few months now. I use it to find content I am extremely interested in, I also use it to find info posted by people I follow. I also use it to stalk my competitors - which gives me a very unfair advantage. Also cool is tracking reviews on products I am considering. Or building buyers personas based on certain words and market segment. It is a no brainer for me, and allows me to keep my finger on the pulse. Allows me to listen to the market vs guessing at what it is saying.

@jonathan_du_toit Thanks so much Jonathan. Yup, keeping an eye on competitors is one of my fav uses for Awario too :)
Jing

@jing_money thanks!

@ab80 Was there any due diligence done with your logo? It's very similar to Refind (which launched over a year ago) right down to the shade of blue. Not exactly the same, but too close for comfort in my opinion.
Aleh Barysevich
Maker
@neilio indeed, there's a similarity :( This wasn't intentional by any means, and we might need to revisit the logo (or at least the colors) soon.

Just came across this yesterday on Quora. Just started my trial. Looks great. How does your app work internally? Do you index certain webpages, or do you simply search social media?
Aleh Barysevich
Maker
@emilbruckner thanks Emil. We do both - search through social media via the APIs, and look for mentions elsewhere across the web using our in-house crawlers (we built that technology a while ago for our other product, SEO PowerSuite).
Emil Bruckner
@ab80 Thanks ☺️

I've always had the impression that these apps are not real-time! There seems to be a delay! When you find the mention, it already has enough comment! I can be wrong! I was not talking about your tool, but a competitor! And it seemed to work better for web searches than social networks! Could you tell me if real time really exists ... or this delay is a sensation of mine only!
Aleh Barysevich
Maker
@luffrj it depends on the data source you're looking at. For social media, I'd say Awario is very close to real-time (not sure which competitor you're talking about so can't speak on their behalf). For the web mentions, there often will be a delay - simply because the web is a big place and it can take crawlers a while to find that mention.
Ayush Chandra
Great job!! 😊 Will check it out

@ayush_chandra thanks, please do!

I love the folks at Awario. @ab80, beyond building an awesome product, your support staff have been 🙌. I guess my #1 question is how can you differentiate in a market that is already a little crowded?
Aleh Barysevich
Maker
@eytanbuchman thanks so much Eytan! I can totally see where you're coming from - can't say a lot at this point but do stay tuned for news from our team ;)

Could I use Awario to find all instances of a unique #hashtag that my customers are posting in their various social accounts? And if so, would their be a way to automatically transfer that data into a google spreadsheet with fields like .... person's name or handle ... permalink to their social post or comment ... date of post ???
Aleh Barysevich
Maker
@pctdoug hey Doug, yes and yes, although the later isn't fully automatic. To track a hashtag, just create an alert for your hashtag and that's it. You can then export all mentions with all the details to CSV right from your mention feed (export is available under the Pro and Enterprise plans).
Doug Lietz
@ab80 Perfect... thanks!
Marek Murawski
Im looking for Awario to be back on AppSumo asap. I missed the deal and I want it badly.
Aleh Barysevich
Maker
@marek_murawski hey Marek. We aren't going to have another deal anytime soon, but please do get in touch with Support to see what they can do ;)
Bruce Kraft Jr.
Love LOVE awario. I have 10 brands I monitor, and I speak with support via chat daily. Just waiting on hopefully a mobile and desktop app so I can respond to social actions faster! And can't wait for users and sub accounts!! #awario4life
Aleh Barysevich
Maker
@brucekraftjr Hey Bruce, thanks! We have those things on the roadmap, but they're not the nearest plans I'm afraid. One of the coming-very-soon features though is push notifications - those should definitely help respond to mentions faster!
Derek Shanahan
Oof, wish I'd seen this on AppSumo. Looks super solid, Mention.net needs some healthy competition.
Aleh Barysevich
Maker
@dshan hey Derek! Do check Awario out and let me know what you think :)
Saijo George
oh crap missed this on Appsumo 😭😭😭. Will add it to https://saijogeorge.com/best-marketing-tools/#mention shortly. Pricing page says: 30,000 new mentions/month & 3,000 stored mentions per alert <<--- what does this mean?
Aleh Barysevich
Maker
@saijogeorge Thanks - would love to be added! 3K mentions per alert is the storage limit - the number of mentions a single alert can contain at a time. So if Awario finds 3,001 mentions for one of your alerts, we'll still add the latest one, but the oldest mention in your feed will have to be deleted. Hope this makes sense :)
Jenn Cloud
Hi there! We currently use a tool called Mention and Awario looks very, very similar. Aside from the price points, are you able to tell us about how you are differentiated from Mention?
Aleh Barysevich
Maker
@jenn_cloud Hey Jen! Sure, there're a number of differences. Mention is more focused on gathering data from the past couple of days (historical data is only available under their custom agency plans). With Awario, there's no such limit - we offer historical data for all plans, including the free trial. The same is true for Boolean search alerts. Also, I'm not sure if Mention gathers data from Reddit, while Awario does. The amount of data you get is also quite different: with Mention's Starter plan at $99/mo, you get 5 alerts and 5K mentions/mo, while Awario's Pro plan ($89/mo) will get you 10 alerts and 100K monthly mentions. All in all, I have to admit the tools are designed to solve the same problem, but I'd say Awario offers you more data and search capabilities even in its basic plans.
