Do you plan on continuing to grow this site?
Hi @jacqvon, thank you for checking Vanish out! If more people are interested in the product, definitely. Though I still want it to be kept simple and to the point, if I get more feedback about what people would like to see in it I would add more! I have a few ideas in mind, first one being adding more info (e.g. about WeChat)
This is the second product I made for my startup, The M Company (TheMComp.com). The first one was seen before here as well, fontdatabase.app!
The idea for Vanish came to me because I always feel the need to have as few social media accounts as I can. A lot of you can probably relate.
The few similar products I saw out asked for, in my opinion, too many permissions to do it automatically. And while I do get where they are coming from, I feel most of us decide to clean up our social media due to a need to feel control over our information, in varying degrees depending on the person. This is why Vanish simply works as a guide and links you to the pages in each social media site so you can do it yourself, but way quicker.
This product represents the simplicity behind The M Company (The only way I could simplify it more would be if I took out the stylesheet haha). In the future I wish to bring you much, much bigger products, that will help you optimize your existing devices (phones, computers, wearables, etc.) as well as your daily routine. This is just the very beginning!
PS. Has no one found the easter egg yet?
@whereskeyser I think your website is down - let us know when it's back up
@abadesi Hi, looks like it's up now!
I'd suggest to add the css class:
to the buttons with the social media logos! Other than that, super nice
*attribute not class
@frcbls Hi, thanks a million for commenting this, I was sure I had it turns out there was a typo! Fixing it.
@frcbls @whereskeyser Still an issue, at least in Safari, buttons will not close and you need to refresh the page to kill the tip.
@frcbls @ubercool Hi Michael, thank you for letting me know! The popups have an X at the end of the text which closes them. I'll be most likely changing it so you can exit by clicking outside of them or pressing esc, so it's more intuitive.
Nice work, @whereskeyser.
Related wild shower thought: Does this exist for the real world? I.e. Is there a service that will help one create a new identity to escape their current situation and start over?
Thank you for checking Vanish out @rrhoover!
Interesting question! Not that I know of. To a certain extent we are all traceable (which is scary to think about), e.g. we need a passport and plane ticket to travel to different cities/states/countries. I would be curious to know how something like what you said could be implemented fully, and if it could, how many people would use it.
Google search should be among the list, it should not just be Social Media
