Hey Product Hunters.
My name is Kevin, I'm 23 years old, indie iOS developer / HCI student from Germany and the maker of Planny 2!
Over the last months I worked on a new version of Planny. Planny 2 is all new and has been rethought from the ground up. It's a completely new design, that is improved in every detail. The entire navigation has been improved to make the app easier to use for new users. In addition to that, I concentrated on making all the existing features faster and more fun to use. Planny 2 was also designed with teamwork in mind - the most requested feature. Now you can share lists with your friends, assign tasks and complete more of your tasks together.
But what makes Planny different?
Planny isn't just a todo app. Planny is your friend helping you to be more productive. Planny learned everything important from common to do list apps but combines them with intelligence and gamification. Everything starts by planning your day in the morning. Planny provides intelligent suggestions of tasks you can do today. But it doesn't stop there. During the day Planny intelligently reminds you if you tend to forget your tasks. To motivate you even more, you earn productivity points for adding and completing tasks, and also lose them if you shift tasks or forget them. These points can be compared with your friends, so you can see who's the most productive one over the week.
Planny of course features all the important features like deadlines, lists / projects, tagging, location based reminders, notes and attachments, routines and more ... and this is just the beginning.
In Planny 2.1, coming later this year, I'll add sub tasks as well as more languages and small improvements to boost productivity even more.
If you have any ideas for improvements, let me know :) Planny 2 is just this great because of the feedback of its users :)
@akshaymoorthy Thank you so much! The visual design is just one part of it. The magic appears, when you're blind and have to use voiceover. The redesigned navigation and interaction really improved the experience for blind users.
@akshaymoorthy @toastbrotente That's very thoughtful of yours!!! 😍
Interesting! Really amazed.
I just downloaded the app and my first impression is that it looks beautiful. First thing that stood out to me was how much stuff you were trying to tell during onboarding. It felt overwhelming to me. I think you should limit yourself to 3 things that are really important before I see the app. I think just the first screen of onboarding should be enough and explain everything else as you use the app. I haven't really had the chance to use it, just wanted to share this.
Once again, really like what I've seen otherwise, will definitely give it a go!
@glucose Thank you a lot for this feedback. I think I'll include two tutorials, one that can be accessed later and a really short one for the beginning, that only features the most important things.
@toastbrotente I’m happy to help! Also forgot to mention that I really liked the chatty design approach in the onboarding (and the app too of course).
@glucose This chatty design is actually an idea that comes from an app, that I'll ship next year, but I thought it makes sense in Planny 2 as well in some situations :)

Looks fantastic! I was pleasantly surprised that there's also a Mac version. The description should probably be updated to include that too.
@elliotttate Thank you! I added this to the description.
Tell me there's an Android version in the works!!? 😅 Pretty please?
@anna_0x Oh I'm so sorry. Today this app is just available on iOS, watchOS and macOS, because it makes use of every functionality Apple offers (rich interactive notifications, Siri integration, iCloud, ...) and integrates at a very deep level.
@toastbrotente Well, I have a MacBook so I can give this a go later, but on my phone it'd be much more useful...
You know, Android also has interactive notifications, Google Drive integration and I think you can also make it so that your app accepts commands directly from the Google Assistant....
I understand if you are an iOS developer and don't know how to make Android apps (not judging, I can't code at all anyway! haha) but don't say it's because "iOS is better" because you can do those things on Android too 😉
You have my vote 😆 well said 💯
@akshaymoorthy Thank you :)

Looking grand. Will give it a go. Been searching for something to place Trello and their not-so-pretty design
