Hey guys, I'm the CEO/Founder of TriplAgent. AMA! :)
Welcome, @taraskrav! Love the design of TriplAgent.
What was the inspiration behind the product?
I moved to NYC from Sweden about 2 years and anyone who travels wants to experience the local side of the city and not generic touristy stuff.
So, why not let locals share their tips.
You wouldn´t recommend your friends to go to Times Square, right?
I will likely travel to NYC on March so this app will be helpful. :)
@taraskrav - How are you curating the content and the curators themselves?
We go through all lists that are being created in the app. When we find interesting lists with good spots we approach the user and ask if they want to become an agent.
Just like here, we want to have a small community with gems and not everything in the world :)
What's your favorite plan or destination, @taraskrav?
@rrhoover Well, that changes frequently but Prague is one of my favorite cities, aah the beer.
In NYC though, here is a list of places that most people had no idea existed http://bit.ly/198Bx3i
@taraskrav beautiful (!!) mobile app and web experience. Kudos on providing such polish, especially across select gestures interactions. With that said, I'll take my PM hat off and out my VC hat on:
- What's different about your app v. hundreds of other mobile and local content guides?
- How do you plan on generating revenue?
BTW, good to see a gorgeous travel product! I'm a bit biased. ;)
@daveambrose thanks, glad you like it!
1. A question that fuels the whole project :) Based on the feedback from our community, people really love the local recommendations aspect. There is no almighty editor at a travel blog that selects where you should eat, but rather someone that knows his neighborhood.
The second differentiator is the recommendation engine; The more you travel, the more TriplAgent would learn about what kind of places you like. If you like going to wine bars in New York, and then you go to Amsterdam, TriplAgent would recommend the best wine bars without you having to look for them.
2. In our next release (in February) we will have premium in-app features such as offline maps and a possibility to "unlock" secret gems and spots around a city. We also have plans on releasing a version specifically for business travelers with option to customize an entire trip.
Hope that answered your questions! :)

Seems like TriplAgent is no longer active. Would it make sense to have a button in PH to notify admins of products no longer being active?
