Launching this today. In 13 minutes. Wanted to send it to you guys first!
Congrats on the launch, @ZackShapiro! It's been fun watching the product evolve.
I'd love to hear about how you came up with the idea and what your plans are with your previous product, Silencer.
Congrats @ZackShapiro - judging by the response to my tweet about Luna, I think people really dig it :)
Got any press lined up for today?
No press for today. Coming in the spring.
Been wanting this for two years, popped back into my head at TaskRabbit and kinda stuck there. Stopped working on Silencer. It's really tough to build a business around a Chrome extension.
@ZackShapiro - yeah, I can't think of a single product that requires a Chrome extension that has seen massive adoption. Extensions are a great supplement but introduce too big of a hurdle. Rapportive comes to mind -- people love it but I'm not sure they've seen much pickup outside the early adopter, startup community.
Onto another question: How did you validate demand for Luna? Did you run any tests?
We did a pilot with 30+ in it and had a ton of conversations with people. Demand validated pretty quickly which was nice. Most people get it and know the pain well.
@ZackShapiro congrats, brilliant product and great landing page messaging.
@rrhoover I'd argue that the Buffer extension is pretty key to the product experience. @ZackShapiro, Luna looks great!
@mishachellam - great example and as a hardcore Buffer user, I'd agree but Buffer is arguably not a mainstream product (yet?). Early adopter/tech people will install and use extensions but I'm not sure the average consumer is comfortable or familiar with extensions. That could certainly change, especially as Google pushes its chrome App Store.
@ryanhoover what about Buffer? I understand they have mobile apps, but most of my sharing and use of the product revolves around their Chrome extension.
