Tom Flemming
Spark vs Airmail. Begin.
Anthony Painter
@tomflemming Spark v Polymail :-)
Wojtek Czekalski
@a12rj @tomflemming The quality of Polymail app is terrible IMO. I've been a user for few months now. Unstable and very buggy
Steven H
@tomflemming airmail is extremely messy to me, ditched it on iOS for easilydo (beta version) and on Mac ditched it for spark.
@shtooova I'm curious to how it has it been messy for you? Just the way it organize's your email? Or was it crashing a lot? I throughly enjoy Airmail and it's stable for me, but maybe I'm missing something.
Steven H
@zacattac no I'm talking about the aesthetic. Everything else I love!
YourBrownFriend :)
@wokalski @a12rj @tomflemming Agreed. I want to love Polymail but it crashes EVERY time I wake my MBP from sleep. Every time.
Eric Castellón
@a12rj @tomflemming Polymail is very buggy, I had to switch back to default Mail App
Shaun Clark
@a12rj @tomflemming Crikey, Polymail is where Airmail was a couple of years ago - looks great, but buggy and sometimes just hardly works. Expected more from Polymail in honesty - seems like there are a few great ideas at the expense of general functionality
Anthony Painter
Any plans on an auto bcc feature?
@eatdrinkstaydxb @a12rj @tomflemming I've found Spark beta 1 more stable than Airmail.
@zacattac @shtooova Airmail is offering many unique features that no other client offers. but sadly it's still not stable and crashy. It's also not a RAM friendly app by any means.
Roy Glueckstern
@tomflemming @a12rj Hop email! It works better than both of them combined! It is the shortest path to get things done.

Spark for iOS was my favourite iOS mail client but I switched to Airmail for the Mac support. It's so great that there's now a native Spark app for MacOS, I've switched over and so far so good 👍
Raul Rocawabe
Finally! Thanks for this must app
Finally! Buy, buy Newton! Love Spark.
Wojtek Czekalski
The app is free, so what is the business model? How do you plan to sustain development?
Greg Gilbert
@wokalski my concern exactly.. it looks good but I'd like to know if it's here to stay :)
Louis de Vaumas
@wokalski Same question here! We've seen to many email apps disappears
Parwinder Bhagat
@wokalski All the other apps from Readdle are paid. They make money from the companion productivity apps (Scanner & PDF Expert are must haves!)
Patrick Thompson
@wokalski Found this comment on another post on /r/mac: General Statistical Information "When you use the Spark app we gather statistics and analytics on your usage of Spark. We may collect information about your mobile device and internet connection, including the application-specific device identifier, IP address, operating system, browser type, mobile network information, location, installed email, etc. This information is collectively referred to as "General Statistical Information". This data helps us to determine how different parts of the Spark app are used. This information is used by us to provide you with the best user experience possible. We use third party services, such as Google Analytics, Facebook Analytics and Amplitude, to collect and analyze how you use Spark. These services may collect information about you and your usage of Spark in accordance with their respective privacy policies." So even if you're trying to keep your data away from Google and Facebook they'll get it any way. I'm not sure if anyone is aware of that but Spark downloads all your emails to their servers. They mention about that in their policy. If anyone regrets signing up for Spark and is worried about your emails being stored on their servers, try this
Wojtek Czekalski
@neurohacked Thanks. I think this prevents many people, myself included, from using this app.
Patrick Kuti
@neurohacked @wokalski Thanks for this. I was looking forward to it until finding out the above, as this also prevents myself from using this app. I really don't understand why the recent surge of new e-mail applications constantly feel the need to get you to either sign up for a new user account, or store your e-mail on their servers and to add salt to the wound, account deletion is always a cumbersome process with them all.
Wojtek Czekalski
@patyx7 @neurohacked yeah; the password part is just a bit worrying because you can make them delete it if you disable push notifications on all your devices. This part however makes me seriously an opponent of this app: "We use third party services, such as Google Analytics, Facebook Analytics and Amplitude [...]. These services may collect information about you and your usage of Spark"
Mihail Tugushev
@neurohacked thanks!
Matthew Gold
@neurohacked @wokalski I would gladly pay just to remove this...

@wokalski Hi Wojtek, here's a few words about the business model
Roy Glueckstern
@wokalski I would check out Hop email, its free, easy to use, and works on top of existing email so you dont have to adopt anything new! Check it out at
Vladislav Arbatov
Spark was very good on ios and now it comes to desktop. I just hope there will be no "newtonish" / pro paid switch. But I guess it's inevitable.
Kelly Kuhn-Wallace
I am usually not sad because I am a PC. But today....
Justin Bauer
@kkdub I'm actually making the switch back to PC today, and I'm less excited about it now :X
Kelly Kuhn-Wallace
@bauermetal Hope the move went well. It can be rough. Apply liberal amounts of high end beer/liquor/hot chocolate/pizza/ice cream as your preference & as needed. I assume you did so last night (good preparation is the key to success).
Roy Glueckstern
@kkdub I would really recommend checking out Hop email. It's free, easy to use, and works on top of your existing email and just enhances it's capabilities

I've been beta testing and the app is great. Although I would have a few remarks : 1) some messages can't be displayed on both iOS and mac for no apparent reason. 2) the most awesome feature of batch deleting (as well as batch archiving which is there) on the iOS app has disappeared on the mac version. Waiting for these fixes to completely switch from Airmail on my mac.

Hi guys, Thank you all for the interest and comments. We've spent the last 2.5 years working on Spark in order to change the email experience for people with a busy inbox. Readdle has a proven track record of creating amazing productivity apps that are used by 50 million people (Scanner Pro, PDF Expert, Calendars, Documents), but it was the time to take on a bigger challenge and solve bigger problems in tech. That's why Spark was born. So what is Spark? Spark is an intelligent email client that shows you what's important in your inbox. It bubbles emails from real people to the top, and allows you to take batch actions on your newsletters and notifications. We created it for people who live by their inbox and who want to have an amazing experience with email. Here's how Spark intelligently helps you: - Smart Inbox lets you quickly see what’s important and batch archive the noise - Natural language search (i.e. search “email from Alex last week with a PDF”) - Beautiful and minimalist design - Amazing Calendar invite cards (this alone is a killer feature. See your schedule while accepting the invite) - Quick Replies with emotions - Smart notifications will only notify you about important emails (you can also teach Spark) If that's not enough to make you switch: - Spark supports Touch Bar on the new MacBook Pro - It will sync all your settings and snoozes across all your Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac) - iOS App was named one of “Best of the App Store 2015” by Apple. - Spark for Mac is now "Editors' Choice" on the Mac App Store The Business Model: Spark 2.0 is already in the works and will be geared towards Team collaboration around email. Spark will remain free for personal use, but we will charge the teams on recurring basis. Here's the story behind Spark and why we created it: I hope to hear your thoughts and feedback. Please remember that this is version 1.0.

@denzhadanov Love it! Keep up the great work over there at Readdle. Just installed Spark on both my Macs. 😉
Able Joseph
@denzhadanov Been a long time user on iOS and a beta user on the Mac. Brilliant app. I wake up to only relevant emails now. Sleep has improved. Needed that. Thank you!
Tigran Hakobyan
@denzhadanov Great job guys! I have been using Spark on iPhone for a while and liked it a lot. Already installed on my Mac and happy so far :)
Frederik Fryland
@denzhadanov I really enjoy it so far! I have been using Newton for a while and Sparks interface is much more compelling with multiple mailboxes. I think you should consider integrating mail tracking/scheduling :)
Bryce York
@denzhadanov would love to be able to set a default font (even better a default font stack so it matches my signature).
Shaun Clark
@denzhadanov Wow, so impressed at this. Spark is ace on IOS and whilst I thought I was content with Airmail on Mac, I'm now not so sure. One killer feature I love on Airmail is being able to filter all the messages by same sender with one keystroke - far easier to work through (or bin). Can't see that Spark or Polymail have that feature (yet). Keep up the fab work!
Adithya Shreshti
@denzhadanov I love the iOS app (it just goes crazy if a lot of accounts are connected) . Not sure why Mac app is not available in the Indian app store.
Trey Hakanson
@tigranhakobian @denzhadanov how's the iphone app? is it better than Polymail's? I've enjoyed that so far
@meetbryce yes! This is my biggest frustration with Spark.
Tigran Hakobyan
@trey_hakanson @denzhadanov the iPhone app is really great for me! I have been using Apple's native mail app for a while, then Outlook (which was great before Apple releasing iOS 10), but Spark is definitely better. Haven't used Polymail, so can't compare it with Spark.
Daveyon Mayne
@denzhadanov Where is the iOS app? Website says only for Mac?
Kiley Dorton
@denzhadanov this is a picture-perfect model for how a maker should describe their product on PH
John Yalcin
@denzhadanov Excellent news! I'm excited to give this a try. What rendering engine does Spark use to display HTML emails?
Juan L
@denzhadanov this looks amazing! I'm looking forward to using the Calendar Invite cards
@denzhadanov Does Readdle store email content on its servers?
@mirmayne App Store 🔗
Daveyon Mayne
@shahinix Thank you!
Wayne Slavin
@denzhadanov well done on a great product. Go team Readdle!
Samantha Richardson
@denzhadanov Love the design! Swipe customization is simply brilliant!
Denys Zhadanov
@mirmayne No, you can download both iOS and Mac apps from Apple Stores.
Denys Zhadanov
Here's a few words about the business model
Darin Dimitroff
@denzhadanov hands down the best email app for macOS and iOS to come out after Sparrow. My favorite detail is the ability to switch between different keyboard command modes on a Mac.
Jesus Kiteque
@denzhadanov When you guys are going to add Gmail Categories? That's a must for people that receives tons of Newsletters daily.
Jakub Juszczak
Looking cool. Is there PGP support?
Carsten Knobloch
Where are filters for mails?
Denys Zhadanov
@caschy coming :)
Carsten Knobloch
@denzhadanov can't wait :)
Yuzhe Ding
So far so good, it is stable and snappy. But the download for attachment is kind of annoying. Seems it would start automatically with other confirmation and the speed is poor. On the other hand, I still want to replace the quick replies with some in APP customizable templates.
Erik Tobiassen
Love it! Just switched all my accounts to Spark!
blake folgado
Where is the love in the UK? Need to replace Polymail.
Waldemar Juschin
@blakefolgado why replace polymail? If been trying it out and had way too many issues. Syncing, loading time, etc... was it just me or did you have he same issues?
blake folgado
@wjuschin I got an email a few days ago to now pay for Pro. All the features in Pro are what makes it unique. Its not that I do not mind paying for Pro but I have been using it since its beta launch on here and I cannot recall every being told I would have to pay for these features down the line. I have got a bunch of people to move to Polymail, all of which had no clue they would get charged for the original features that made polymail different. ehh. Also a lot of the time my mail is not even close to in sync.
Adam Davies
Polymail has support for the Gmail filters like promotions, updates etc. Does Spark have the same or does the smart inbox do the same job?
Sweet app, email signatures seem to be going super-plain text though?
They support rich text signature
