Yup, this is kinda meta, but I'm serious about posting it. If anyone has any feedback or wants to analyze ProductHunt itself, this is a good place to do it!

Enjoying the little UI touches, like you've reduced it down to bare essentials and then thought hard about them. nice work!

Really digging this - slick design too :)

When adding a comment, I don't think it's updating the comment count on the list.

Editing comments would be cool too. Particularly for detail-oriented product people. :)

@Ben Comment editing definitely coming soon!

Looking great so far (and comment editing already added - love that feedback cycle!). Quick thoughts: 1. when adding a new product, I typically start with the URL - maybe an old habit from my del.icio.us days, but wonder if it'd make sense to have that field listed first instead of last. 2. When adding a comment, both this pane and the one behind it shift to the left...which I thought was a little disorienting. Maybe only have the top pane slide over while the back one stays in place?

Just added a new feature and I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts! It's called "related links", and it's pretty self explanatory - you can now post links related to the product (press, blog posts, angel list profiles, etc). Thoughts?

@nbashaw cool to see this finally get rolled out :)

Enjoying this list / product so far. @nbashaw I like 'related links' conceptually but quickly scanned over it (since no one added anything yet). Seeding it with some links programmatically would be nice to avoid cold start but may not be worth the effort to do so. Key question is how it provides value over Googling the product? Obviously it saves me one extra step but anything else? Signup was a bit awkward b/c I was asked for my email on the homepage but then Login triggered Twitter auth. Ideally there would be one coherent approach to logging in / signing up. Before I realized I needed to make an account, I struggled to figure out how voting, comments worked. I eventually made an account when I realized I had to in order to vote/comment...but ideally there could be a contextual prompt vs. just hiding the elements (up arrow, comment box). Keep up the good work.

@jasonyogeshshah - great feedback! Our primary goal with Product Hunt isn't to become a catalog of product reviews -- although there could be some value in that in the future -- but instead become a destination for product people to share and discuss new and interesting products. Personally, I'm always on the hunt for new products not just for fun but to learn (how do they market the product? what's their on-boarding flow like? what design patterns and growth tactics are they using? etc.). This is particularly important for those working on a product. If you're building a mobile messaging app, you better watch for new competitors (e.g. React, Skim, Wire) and the sooner you can identify and use competing products, the better. Additionally, we hope the community provides further insight into these products through the discussion which is one of the motivations for the related links feature. Re: the signup, you're right. It's confusing. Currently we're whitelisting a few select contributors maintain high quality submissions and avoid spam/irrelevant submissions.

Btw, here's the initial Product Hunt MVP - http://linkydink.io/groups/product-hunt Blog post forthcoming. :)

Being able to click in a notification would be nice. There was a new comment on Cluster, but it's already quite far down the page, and I couldn't click in the notification to get right to it.

@byosko - agreed! It's on the list. :)
