This morning Beats (yes, the maker of the Beats headphones) announced their upcoming music streaming service. Cleverly, they prompt users to reserve their username and share on Facebook/Twitter.
I'm curious to see how this compares to Spotify and others. Press eludes to curated (editorial or social?) discovery.
Who sort of tried to steal our logo!
The whole "reserve your username" thing was exploited really successfully by a group software startup in NY a few years ago, I can't remember their name though. They got like 200k signups with 0 hints about what the product does.
More competition (or frienenemies) in this space. YC-backed Bop.fm was covered on TC today - http://techcrunch.com/2013/12/05/yc-backed-bop-fm-links-together-music-silos-like-spotify-radio-and-itunes-to-share-tracks-universally
